Tomorrow is National Ag Day – Help Spread the Word!

March 14th, 2011 by Courtney Beck

Tomorrow is National Ag Day, and last week we shared with you the symbolism of National Ag Day as well as some of the celebratory events that will take place in our nation’s capital.

Can’t make it to Washington? Here are some things you can do to support National Ag Day from wherever you are:

  • Update your Facebook status to tell your friends and families why you’re proud of agriculture.
  • Tweet using the hashtag #agday to commune virtually with ag folks worldwide.
  • Host a local Ag Day celebration with your colleagues.
  • Reach out to your Senators and Representatives, and thank them for supporting agriculture.

What are you doing to spread the word about National Ag Day?

Heads Up: National Ag Day is March 15th

March 11th, 2011 by Courtney Beck

Here at BASF Plant Science, we are always looking for ways to celebrate agriculture and all those involved in the industry. We are extremely excited about the 38th annual National Ag Day, coming up next Wednesday. Every year, producers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, government agencies and countless others across America join together to recognize the contributions of agriculture.

So what is National Ag Day all about? According to the Agriculture Council of America (ACA), the National Ag Day program encourages every American to:

  • Understand how food, fiber and renewable resource products are produced;
  • Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy;
  • Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products; and
  • Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food, fiber and renewable resource industries.

There are multiple events that will take in place in Washington, D.C. during the week, including coffee with the Secretary, a mix-and-mingle luncheon and the National Celebration of Agriculture Dinner.

Do you have National Ag Day plans? Share them! Let us know what you are doing to promote agriculture.
